Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Friedman, and Others Set for Upcoming Public Forum Events

The Public Theater has announced the 2016 fall Public Forum lineup, featuring a series of one-night events exploring the ideas and themes presented on the Public Theater's stages.

The season will include A Conversation on Privacy on August 1, An Evening With Coriolanus and the Modern Campaign on September 26, Election Night on November 8, A Conversation on the Legacy of Radical Protest on November 15, and The Long Christmas Dinner on December 11.

Public Forum: A Conversation on Privacy (August 1 in the Newman Theater) will consider whether it is possible to live a private life in a public world as Daniel Radcliffe (Privacy), Jon Ronson (journalist and author of bestseller So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed), professor Sherry Turkle, and more discuss the limits of privacy for the government, the media, and ourselves.

For Public Forum: An Evening With Coriolanus and the Modern Campaign (September 26 in Joe's Pub), Shakespeare Society director Michael Sexton will host an evening exploring Shakespeare’s Roman tragedy and the way it presages much of our modern political culture. Sexton will be joined by actors including Chukwudi Iwuji.

At Public Forum: Election Night (November 8 in Joe's Pub), composer and Public Forum director Michael Friedman will play songs from his New Yorker campaign cycle while pundits stop by to entertain and distract.

Public Forum: A Conversation on the Legacy of Radical Protest (November 15 in the Anspacher Theater) will continue to explore the entwined history of art and protest, beginning with an evening of artists responding to the legacy of radical black and Latino movements in American politics and culture and imagining what the future might hold.

In Public Forum: The Long Christmas Dinner (December 11 in Joe's Pub), the Bayard family experiences 100 years of Christmas dinners, seeing triumph and heartbreak, birth and death, and a changing world – while some things, like family and tradition, remain constant. The cast will also feature the return of Thornton Wilder’s nephew and literary executor Tappan Wilder.
