Stage and screen star Danny Glover and recording artist and music producer David Rudder will host Cocktails & Conversation, a fundraiser to be held at Deity Lounge in Brooklyn on April 19 at 7pm. The event will benefit Something Positive Dance Company. In addition, a portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the Haitian Earthquake relief efforts.
Also slated to participate in the event will be Schomburg Center chief Dr. Howard Dodson, celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine, Alvin Ailey dancer Aubrey Lynch II, philanthropist Danny Simmons, BET producer Nathan Hale Williams, and author Akoshia Yoba.
Something Positive Dance Company is dedicated to the exposition and development of the art and culture of the African Diaspora through performance and educational programs. The company has performed its original repertoire such at venues as the African Burial Ground National Monument, American Museum of Natural History, Dwyer Cultural Center, Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
