David Mamet's The Cryptogram Extends at Chicago's Profiles Theatre

Chicago's Profiles Theatre has extended its 20th-anniversary production of David Mamet's play The Cryptogram. Directed by Joe Jahraus, the drama opened on October 2 and will now run through December 6.

Abigail Boucher, Darrell W. Cox, and Aaron Lamm star in the play, which is set in 1959 as a young boy awaits his father's return from a camping trip and discovers something terrifying in the process.

The Cryptogram premiered in 1994 at Ambassadors Theatre in London, followed by an off-Broadway run at the Westside Theater Upstairs in April 1995. Mamet's plays also include Glengarry Glen Ross, American Buffalo, Speed-the-Plow, and Oleanna, among many others.

The design team for The Cryptogram includes Thad Hallstein (set), Mike May (lights), Jeffrey Levin (sound and original music), and Raquel Adorno (costumes). Danica Horton serves as assistant director.

Profiles Theatre was founded in 1988 by Artistic Director Joe Jahraus as an actor-driven theater ensemble dedicated to creating provocative and emotionally truthful productions.
