Tony Award nominee Dee Hoty will replace the previously announced Lucie Arnaz in North Shore Music Theatre‘s production of 9 to 5: the Musical in the role of Violet Newstead. The production will begin performances on September 25 and run through October 7.
Arnaz has been forced to bow out of the production due to a severe back injury, an annular tear of her L5 disc. “It’s disappointing to me for so many reasons, especially after meeting with the creative team involved and knowing what a first rate production this is going to be,” the actress said in a statement.
Based on the hit 1980 film, 9 to 5 features a score by Dolly Parton and a book by Patricia Resnick, who c0-wrote the film’s screenplay. Richard Stafford directs and choreographs the production, with musical direction by Mark Hartman.
The cast also features Holly Davis (Judy Bernley), Shayla Osborn (Doralee Rhodes), George Dvorsky (Franklin Hart, Jr., and Kathy St. George (Roz Keith), as well as Amy Bodnar, Patrick Boyd, Jermiah Ginn, Derek Hanson, Kevin B. McGlynn, Natalie Newman, Rommel Pierre O’Choa, Sarah M. O’Connor, Peter Romagna, Shannon Lea Smith, Jonathan Stahl, Merrill West, and Toni Elizabeth White.
The creative team includes Phillip Witcomb (Scenic Designer), Paula Peasley-Ninestein (Costume Designer), Phillip Watson (Lighting Designer), and Jessica Paz (Sound Designer).
