Drama Desk Award winner Deirdre O’Connell (Circle Mirror Transformation)
has joined the cast of Hamish Linklater’s The Vandal, which its making its world premiere at The Flea Theater, January 18 through February 17, under the direction of Jim Simpson. She replaces Academy Award winner Holly Hunter (The Piano) who had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts.
The Vandal takes place in a Kingston, New York bus stop where a woman and a boy meet on a cold night and tell each other stories to distract from the chill. The show will also star the previously announced Noah Robbins (Arcadia) and Tony Award nominee Zach Grenier (33 Variations).
O’Connell was most recently seen on Broadway in Magic/Bird. Her numerous Off-Broadway credits include In The Wake, The Poor Itch, Cave Dweller, and Spatter Pattern.
Linklater is best known for his work as an actor, and most recently appeared on Broadway in Seminar. He received an Obie Award for The School For Lies and was nominated for a Drama Desk for his performance in the 2009 Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night opposite Anne Hathaway and Audra McDonald.
