Disney has released a new sneak peek at Mary Poppins Returns. Starring Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, and more, Rob Marshall's upcoming sequel to the classic 1964 musical is set to be released on December 19. Check out the preview below.
Mary Poppins Returns features a screenplay by David Magee from a story by Magee, Marshall, and John DeLuca. The film stars Blunt as the title character, with Miranda, Streep, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Pixie Davies, Joel Dawson, Nathanael Saleh, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, and Angela Lansbury in supporting roles. Dick Van Dyke, who played Bert in the original film, will also appear.
The story is described as follows: "In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael's three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives."
