Christopher Jackson and Brian d’Arcy James are among the cast members in this new production at the Public Theater.
Primary casting has been announced for the world premiere production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's new musical, Hamilton. Inspired by Ron Chernow's book Alexander Hamilton and directed by Thomas Kail, the production begins performances January 20 at The Public Theater and will run through March 22. Press opening will take place on February 17.
Miranda himself will take on the title role, with a principal cast that includes Christopher Jackson (George Washington), Brian d’Arcy James (King George), Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton), Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr), Daveed Diggs (Marquis De Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson), and Anthony Ramos (John Laurens, Phillip Hamilton), as well as an ensemble made up of Carleigh Bettiol, Ariana DeBose, Sydney James Harcourt, Sasha Hutchings, Thayne Jasperson, Stephanie Klemons, Jon Rua, Seth Stewart, Betsy Struxness, Ephraim Sykes, and Voltaire Wade-Greene. A full cast list will be announced in the coming weeks.
Hamilton features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, and choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler.
