Paul Alexander Nolan and Lora Lee Gayer were also on hand to toast the release of the show’s original Broadway cast recording.
The stars of the short-lived Broadway musical Doctor Zhivago reunited on September 30 for a cast recording release party at Sardi's. Broadway Records released the album on July 31.
Doctor Zhivago starred Tam Mutu in the title role, alongside Kelli Barrett (Lara Guishar), Tom Hewitt (Viktor Komarovsky), Paul Nolan (Pasha Antipov), and Lora Lee Gayer (Tonia Gromeko). Mutu, Barrett, Nolan, and Gayer were all on hand for the concert and release party.
Directed by Des McAnuff, Doctor Zhivago is adapted from Boris Pasternak's beloved novel of the same title by Michael Weller (book), Lucy Simon (music), and Michael Korie and Amy Powers (lyrics). Set amid World War I and the Russian Revolution, Doctor Zhivago tells the story of a political idealist who must choose between his devoted wife and his mysterious lover, while competing for the latter's affection with revolutionaries and aristocrats to win her heart.
