Douglas Sills (The Scarlet Pimpernel, My Favorite Year at the York Theatre Company) has been announced as the newest addition to the cast of the New York City Center Encores! production of Lady, Be Good. The musical, which will feature direction by Mark Brokaw and choreography by Randy Skinner, is set to run for seven performances from February 4-8.
Previously announced cast members include nine-time Tony winner Tommy Tune (Grand Hotel) as Jeff, Colin Donnell (Violet) as Jack Robinson, Danny Gardner (White Christmas) as Dick Trevor, Jeff Hiller (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) as Bertie Bassett, Erin Mackey (Sweeney Todd at Lincoln Center) as Shirley Vernon, Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones) as Susie Trevor, Richard Poe (All the Way) as Rufus Parke/Manuel Estrada, Jennifer Laura Thompson (Wicked) as Josephine Vanderwater, and Kirsten Wyatt (Annie) as Daisy Parke.
The 1924 musical features a score by George and Ira Gershwin and a book by Guy Bolton and Fred Thompson. The story follows, a penniless brother and sister, Dick and Susie Trevor, who crash a garden party in hopes of some quick nourishment. They resolve to marry for money, but love quickly gets in the way.
