Eclipsed Tony nominee Lupita Nyong’o is in talks to star in the upcoming film of Marvel’s The Black Panther, according to Variety.

Nyong'o's character is unknown at this point, but it is expected to be the love interest for Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa, this prince of an African nation who must take over the kingdom after his father's murder. Ryan Coogler (Creed) is directing and coauthoring the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole.

Nyong'o won an Oscar for her performance in the film 12 Years a Slave. She earned Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for her performance in Danai Gurira's Eclipsed, which is currently running at the John Golden Theatre.
