New stars join the touring production, stopping next in Salt Lake City.
New cast members will join the touring company of Wicked, beginning performances Tuesday, February 26 at the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City.
Mariand Torres will return to the role of Elphaba after standing by for the role on Broadway and during the first national tour. She appeared in the original Broadway company of In Transit, the world premiere of Prince of Broadway in Japan, and the original off-Broadway company of Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812.
Starring opposite Torres as Glinda will be Erin Mackey, who previously performed the role of Glinda in the Broadway, Chicago, and Los Angeles companies of Wicked. Her Broadway credits include Amazing Grace, In Transit, Chaplin, Anything Goes, and Sondheim on Sondheim.
Also joining the cast will be Curt Hansen (Next to Normal, Hairspray) as Fiyero, Sharon Sachs (Numbers Nerds at Playwrights Horizons) as Madame Morrible, and Tom Flynn (first national tour of Wicked) as Doctor Dillamond.
The company of Wicked currently includes Jason Graae as the Wizard, Mili Diaz as Nessarose, and Michael Wartellaas Boq, with Allison Bailey, Kerry Blanchard, Beka Burnham, Lauren Cannon, Matt Densky, Ryan Patrick Farrell, Sarah Anne Fernandez, KC Fredericks, Nick Gaswirth, Sara Gonzales, Sam Gravitte, Alison Jantzie, Kelly Lafarga, Philip Dean Lightstone, Mattie Love, Chase Madigan, Tiffany Rae Mallari, Micaela Martinez, Andy Richardson, Wayne Schroder, Jeff Sears, Tregoney Shepherd, Brandon Stonestreet, Ben Susak, Cecelia Ticktin, and Justin Wirick.
Based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is set in the land of Oz and tells the story of young women Glinda and Elphaba, who grow up to become Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively. Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
