Anne Kauffman will direct the production at New York Theatre Workshop.
2017 Emmy nominee Carrie Coon (Fargo) will return to the New York stage in Amy Herzog's new drama, Mary Jane. Directed by Anne Kauffman, the production will run September 6-October 15 at New York Theatre Workshop, with opening night set for September 25.
Coon will take on the title role, a single mother caring for her chronically ill son, who finds herself building a community of women from many walks of life. According to New York Theatre Workshop's Twitter account, the full company also includes Liza Colón-Zayas, Dayana Esperanza, Susan Pourfar, and Brenda Wehle.
The creative team includes Laura Jellinek (scenic design), Emily Rebholz (costume design), Japhy Weideman (lighting design), Leah Gelpe (sound design), and Lisa Chernoff (stage manager).
Mary Jane is produced in association with Yale Repertory Theatre, where it was commissioned, and received its world premiere in April 2017. The production reunites Herzog and Kauffman, who collaborated on New York Theatre Workshop's 2013 production of Belleville. Coon is a Tony nominee for her performance in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
