Fiddler on the Roof and More Set for Arena Stage's 2014-2015 Season

New plays by Morris Panych and Katori Hall are also on tap for the Washington, D.C. mainstay.

Washington, D.C.'s Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater has announced its 2014-2015 season.

The season begins with The Shoplifters, a world premiere comedy written and directed by Morris Panych that explores what happens when a career shoplifter meets her match in a rookie security guard and his world-weary mentor. Panych's production runs in the Kreeger Theater from September 5-October 19.

Up next, in the Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle, is Our War, a collection of plays about the repercussions of the Civil War. Running from October 21-November 9, the work features segments written by Maria Agui Carter, Lydia Diamond, Amy Freed, Diane Glancy, Joy Harjo, Samuel D. Hunter, Naomi Iizuka, Aditi Kapil, Dan LeFranc, David Lindsay-Abaire, Ken Ludwig, Taylor Mac, Ken Narasaki, Lynn Nottage, Robert O'Hara, Heather Raffo, Charles Randolph-Wright, Tanya Saracho, Betty Shamieh, John Strand, Tazewell Thompson, William S. Yellow Robe Jr., Karen Zacarías, Zinhle Essamuah, and Nicholas Ong.

On the Fichandler Stage, running from October 31-January 4, will be Molly Smith's revival of the classic Joseph Stein-Jerry Bock-Sheldon Harnick musical Fiddler on the Roof. Another musical revival, Clarke Peters and Louis Jordan's Five Guys Named Moe, will run in the Kreeger Theater from November 14-December 28 under Robert O'Hara's direction.

In 2015, Arena Stage will produce three world premiere productions, including Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, running in the Kreeger Theater from January 15-February 22 under Gary Griffin's direction; John Strand's The Originalist, directed by Molly Smith in the Kogod Cradle from March 6-April 26; and Katori Hall's Blood Quilt, running in the Kreeger Theater from April 24-June 7.

The season will also include August Wilson's King Hedley II, directed by Timothy Douglas, from February 6-March 8 in the Fichandler Stage, and Aaron Posner's production of Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, also running in the Fichandler, from April 3-May 3.
