Tony-winning ”Hairspray” producer Margo Lion will be the guest of honor at the annual event.
The Vineyard Theatre announced today that its 2015 gala will honor Tony-winning producer Margo Lion. The annual fundraiser will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015, at the Edison Ballroom, and hosted by film director John Waters (Hairspray, Cry Baby) and directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer (Hedwig and the Angry Inch).
Vineyard board member and award-winning actress Kathleen Chalfant (A Walk in the Woods) and producer Amanda Lipitz will serve as gala cochairs. The roster of performers will be announced at a later date.
"We have long admired what Margo has accomplished in the theatre," said Artistic Director Sarah Stern. "From Jelly's Last Jam to Angels in America to Hairspray, and many more, she has been responsible for bringing some of the most groundbreaking plays and musicals of the past three decades to the stage. We are delighted to be celebrating her in what promises to be a very fun evening, featuring renowned artists and collaborators from the extraordinary works she has produced."
The Vineyard Theatre is currently preparing for its production of Billy & Ray, directed by Garry Marshall. Performances are set to begin October 20.
