The new musical from Joshua Rosenblum runs through January 15 at York Theatre Company.
York Theatre Company's production of Joshua Rosenblum's new musical Mark Felt, Superstar opened last night and has now shared production photos. Directed by Annette Jolles, Mark Felt, Superstar is the jazzy musical romp of a story of when former FBI agent Mark Felt revealed in 2005 that he had been Deep Throat, the secret source who helped Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein bring down President Richard Nixon. Twenty-four colorful characters come together in this fast-moving, illuminating take on the shocking political scandal that riveted America and still reverberates today.
The company features Peter Benson (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) as Bob Woodward et al, Will Erat (Catch Me If You Can) as L. Patrick Gray et al, Vanessa Lemonides (Zorba!) as Audrey Felt et al, Neal Mayer (Les Misérables) as Mark Felt, and Michael McCoy (The Phantom of the Opera) as Richard Nixon et al.
Mark Felt, Superstar is part of York Theatre's New2NY series which produces simply-staged concert performances of new musicals, providing a stage between developmental lab and full production. Previous shows in the series included In Transit, The Times, Compose Yourself!, and How to Be an American.
