Steppenwolf Theatre has released the first photos of Tony winner Phylicia Rashad's production of Jen Silverman's The Roommate. Currently in performances at Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre, The Roommate is set to open July 1 for its run through August 5.
The Roommate is described as follows: "Sharon is Midwestern nice. But to Robyn, her new roommate from the Bronx, that just means nosy and very, very talkative. A comical mismatch leads to a surprising and touching friendship in The Roommate, a new comedy about how early-life choices lead to mid-life challenges and the unexpected rewards of bridging the divide."
Steppenwolf ensemble members Ora Jones and Sandra Marquez star in the production. The creative team includes John Iacovelli (scenic design), Samantha C. Jones (costume design), Xavier Pierce (lighting design), and Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound design). Laura D. Glenn is the stage manager and Christine D. Freeburg the assistant stage manager.
