Suzan-Lori Parks’s play, inspired by ”The Scarlet Letter”, is one half of Signature Theatre’s ”The Red Letter Plays”.
The Signature Theatre production of Suzan-Lori Parks's In the Blood is currently in performances at the Pershing Square Signature Center. Sarah Benson directs the drama, set to open September 17, with performances running through October 15.
Featured in the cast are Jocelyn Bioh (Everybody), Michael Braun (Everybody), Obie winner Russell G. Jones (Father Comes Home From the Wars), Ana Reeder (When It's You), Tony nominee and Drama Desk winner Saycon Sengbloh (Eclipsed), and Tony winner Frank Wood (Angels in America).
In In the Blood, "Hester La Negrita is a penniless mother of five condemned by the men who love her. Hester turns to former lovers, friends, and the institutions meant to support her, only to be spurned by them all with devastating consequences."
In the Blood is one of two plays by Suzan-Lori Parks inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. It and F**cking A are presented together by Signature Theatre as The Red Letter Plays.
