World-famous flamenco dancer Joaquín Cortés has cancelled the Broadway engagement of Mi Soldedad (My Solitude), which was to play December 11-22 at the Palace Theater, due to a family illness.
“It is unfortunate that we must now cancel what promised to be a very rewarding Broadway engagement for Joaquín and for the entire company,” said producer Jeff Rowland in a statement. “But due to circumstances beyond our control, it is most important that Joaquín be with his family right now, and our thoughts are with them during this time. After the holidays, we will begin looking at options for bringing Mi Soledad to New York in 2007.”
This 90-minute fusion of dance, music, and song has previously been seen in over a dozen of the world’s major cities, including London, Paris, Tokyo, and Mexico City. The show was to feature a live 10-piece orchestra and seven-member vocal ensemble.
