New York City
“It’s All Happening” for the stars of ”Mean Girls”, ”Summer”, and more.
Of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway contributions, Bring It On The Musical had the shortest stay, running only five months at the St. James Theatre in 2012. It didn't have the mileage of his first hit In the Heights, his latest phenomenon Hamilton, or his future masterpiece Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tommy Wiseau's The Room: The Broadway Musical (sadly, just kidding about that last one) — but it did mark several significant Broadway debuts.
Without Bring It On, it's likely we wouldn't have Taylor Louderman leading the cast of Mean Girls as queen bee Regina George (Bring It On vet Kate Rockwell plays her fellow Plastic Karen Smith) — or Ariana DeBose (known to her Hamil-fans as the "Bullet") starring as Disco Donna in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical — or Shuffle Along Tony nominee Adrienne Warren taking the West End by storm as Tina Turner in the rock legend's new biomusical Tina.
What we're trying to say is, if you didn't give Bring It On its fair due five years ago, here's your chance to say, "Thank you for your service."
