Flashback Friday: Hair Won't Be on TV This Year, but It Couldn't Top This Anyway

Even though NBC canceled plans for its live ”Hair”, you can let the sunshine in with this epic Tonys performance.

The age of Aquarius is over — at least for network television.

Earlier this week, presumably in reaction to the poor ratings of Rent on Fox, NBC nixed the psychedelic hippie musical Hair from its scheduled programming, opting instead to find a property with broader appeal. Perhaps that was an astute judgment call, but it is disappointing that Diane Paulus now won't get the chance to recreate her 2009 Tony-winning revival on national television. If the cast's Tony Awards performance (which includes an extended clip of Paulus dancing with her cast members in the Radio City aisles) is a taste of what could have been, we're all worse off.

Editor's note: Pay special attention to the extended amount of time Gavin Creel spends caressing Anne Hathaway.
