We hope she returns to Broadway in ”Moulin Rouge!”
It's been seven long years since Karen Olivo has been seen on Broadway — her Tony-winning turn as Anita in West Side Story still vivid in the minds of theatergoers lucky enough to see it. In recent years, Olivo's stage appearances have been less frequent, with Tick, Tick… Boom! at Encores! and Hamilton in Chicago being her highest-profile gigs. This week, news came that Olivo would take on the role of Satine in a workshop of the upcoming Moulin Rouge! The Musical, and we hope this is the show that finally leads her back to the Great White Way. Until then, we'll content ourselves with rewatching her stunning performance of West Side Story's "America."
