Flashback Friday: Super Bowl Edition: Debbie Reynolds Plays a Football

Happy Super Bowl! We realize that not every reader of TheaterMania loves the gridiron, but we're sure you'll adore this production number from the 1953 MGM musical I Love Melvin, in which Debbie Reynolds plays a football. Since this is a classic MGM backstager, the dance is part of a fictional Broadway show called Quarterback Kelly, but after seeing this, we wish it were real.

Just look at Debbie fly! While Reynolds left us in December, her incredible talent will live on forever, immortalized in celluloid. Here's hoping Sunday's halftime show is half as good as this:
