Ford's Theatre director Paul R. Tetreault has revealed plans for the venue's upcoming 2016-17 season, which will begin with the recently announced East Coast premiere of the new musical Come From Away, directed by Christopher Ashley.
The season will also include Edward Albee's Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (January 21-February 19), directed by Aaron Posner and featuring Holly Twyford as Martha, and the musical Ragtime (March 10-May 20), directed by Peter Flynn and featuring an all-local cast including Kevin McAllister, Tracy Lynn Olivera, and Nova Y. For the holiday season, Ford's Theatre will present the 35th-annual production of A Christmas Carol, with Edward Gero returning as Ebenezer Scrooge. Michael Baron will direct Michael Wilson's adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic.
In addition, political comedian Mark Russell will return for a one-night-only performance on September 19, during the height of election season, and performances of the Society’s actor-led History on Foot walking tours, and daytime one-act play performances of One Destiny also continue in the 2016-17 season.
