Red Bull Theater celebrated the opening night of its production of Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s The School for Scandal, directed by Marc Vietor. The production runs at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
The cast includes Tony nominee Dana Ivey (Butley), Mark Linn-Baker (My Favorite Year), Frances Barber (The Seagull at BAM), and Henry Stram (Titanic), along with Helen Cespedes, Christian Conn, Christian DeMarais, Jacob Dresch, Ramsey Faragallah, Ryan Garbayo, Bradley Gibson, Nadine Malouf, Ben Mehl, and Tony nominee Derek Smith ('Tis Pity She’s a Whore).
Sheridan's comedy The School for Scandal follows Oliver Surface, who, after 16 years abroad, returns home incognito to test the true characters of his nephews, Charles and Joseph. Meanwhile, he discovers his old friend Peter Teazle has wed a young country wife and is being victimized in print and society by a spiteful team of rumor-mongers.
The School for Scandal has scenic design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Russell H. Champa, sound and music by Greg Pliska, original song by Gideon & Hubcap, and hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe, with choreography by Paul McGill.
The production runs through May 8.
