On Monday, February 13, the 52nd Street Project is holding a karaoke benefit concert titled Caroloke: She Works Hard for the Money. The event will celebrate the Project's 35th anniversary, as well as the 25th anniversary of their executive director, Carol Ochs.

The evening starts at 7pm with food and drink in the lobby of the Five Angels Theater, followed by live performances of karaoke inside the theater. Participating artists include Marinda Anderson, Zabryna Guevara (The Get Down), Ben Moss, Frances McDormand (Olive Kitteridge), Michael Potts (August Wilson's Jitney), and others.

There will be tributes to Ochs and performances by audience members drawn at random. Tickets are $100, with the possibility to sing; $250, with a guarantee to sing (very limited number); or $250 for those who want assurances that they will NOT be asked to sing (not as limited). There will also be a silent auction of experiences with Ochs.

The 52nd Street Project was founded in 1981 by actor and playwright Willie Reale in response to a deepening need to improve the quality of life for the kids of Hell’s Kitchen. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to the creation and production of new plays for, and often by, kids between the ages of 9 and 18 that reside in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood in New York City. The Project does this through a series of unique mentoring programs that match kids with professional theater artists.
