"I want to use this thing to give a stage to new voices," the Tony-nominated songwriter Frank Wildhorn says of his upcoming string of concerts, 54 Below Celebrates Frank Wildhorn. The music man behind Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and Bonnie and Clyde knows a few things about making stars: His shows helped launch the careers of stage greats Robert Cuccioli, Linda Eder, Douglas Sills, and Jeremy Jordan, among many others. "I want to do that for new people. I'm going to give them a shot."

One of those performers is Adrienne Warren, who appeared on Broadway in a leading role in the pop-flavored musical Bring It On. The song she's singing, "What I Do Best," was written for Whitney Houston. "In 1988, I was lucky enough to be asked to write a song for Whitney Houston," Wildhorn says. "I wrote 'Where Do Broken Hearts Go.' I wrote a second song for her and they cut the track, but she never showed up to record. So I held that song back until I heard Adrienne sing it. And now it's become her song."
