Disney's Freaky Friday begins performances tonight at the Alley Theatre.
The story of a mother and daughter who magically swap bodies for 24 chaotic hours, Disney's new musical, based on the novel by Mary Rodgers and the two Disney films, features a book by Bridget Carpenter (Parenthood, Friday Night Lights) and a score by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal, If/Then). Christopher Ashley (Come From Away, Memphis) directs with choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Memphis, Jersey Boys).
Heidi Blickenstaff (Something Rotten!) leads the cast as Katherine Blake alongside Emma Hunton (Spring Awakening) as Ellie Blake. They are joined by Jeanette Bayardelle, Eean Cochran, Joseph Dellger, Sean Graul, Jessie Hooker, David Jennings, Julia Krohn, Storm Lever, Mary Jo McConnell, Jake Heston Miller, Tony Neidenbach, Jennafer Newberry, Chris Ramirez, Julian Ramos, Jermaine R. Rembert, Alet Taylor, Jason SweetTooth Williams, and Sumi Yu.
The show features scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Kai Harada and Brian Ronan, and hair and makeup by Leah Loukas. Andrew Graham is the music director and conductor.
Performances continue through July 2.
