Walt Disney Records has released the world-premiere recording of the new musical adaptation.
The world-premiere studio recording of Disney's Freaky Friday was released digitally by Walt Disney Records today. Physical CDs will be available March 17 and can be preordered here.
Based on the novel by Mary Rodgers and its two subsequent Disney film adaptations, Freaky Friday made its world premiere at Arlington's Signature Theatre and is now running at La Jolla Playhouse through March 12.
Developed by Disney Theatrical Productions expressly for licensing to theaters, the musical features a book by Bridget Carpenter (Parenthood), and music and lyrics by Tony-winning collaborators Kitt and Yorkey (Next to Normal, If/Then). The premiere production was directed by Tony nominee Christopher Ashley with choreography by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo (On Your Feet!).
The studio album features Heidi Blickenstaff and Emma Hunton as the story's body-switching mother-daughter pair, along with Jason Gotay, Alan H. Green, Ann Harada, Jake Heston Miller, Shayna Blass, Tyler Bowman, Sherri Edelen, Katie Ladner, Jess LeProtto, Storm Lever, Thaddeus McCants, Tanisha Moore, Julian Ramos, Preston Sadleir, Bobby Smith, Jason Sweettooth Williams, and Natasha Yvette Williams.
