Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights), Zosia Mamet (Girls), and the cast of MCC Theater’s upcoming off-Broadway production of Paul Downs Colaizzo’s Really Really met the press on Thursday, January 10. The drama of undergraduate sexual politics, directed by Obie Award winner David Cromer (Our Town), runs January 31-March 10 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

In the play, which had a record-breaking run at Washington D.C.’s Signature Theatre last season, the aftermath of a wild party turns ugly when gossip about an alleged drunken tryst between nice guy rugby player Davis (Lauria) and the ambitious Leigh (Mamet) is spread. The pair are joined by Lauren Culpepper (who appeared in Signature’s production), David Hull (Wicked), Evan Jonigkeit (High), Kobi Libii (CQ/CX), and Aleque Reid (Hair). Featured on the creative team are David Korins (scenic design), Sarah Laux (costume design), David Wiener (lighting design), and Daniel Kluger (sound design).

Lauria returns to the New York stage after having appeared in An Upset at Ensemble Studio Theatre. He was a series regular of Fox’s The Chicago Code and is perhaps best known as Luke Cafferty on the NBC series Friday Night Lights. He is currently starring in a recurring role on NBC’s Parenthood. In addition to HBO’s Girls, Mamet has been seen in The Kids are All Right, Mad Men, and Parenthood. Her stage credits include The Naked Eye, which was part of the Atlantic’s 10×25 festival and the 24 Hour Plays.

Colaizzo’s resume includes Little Gives, The Thing About Getting, Pride in the Falls of Autrey Mill, and For Tomorrow, Please Prepare. He was the editor and associate producer of the 2008 web series Cubby Bernstein: Tony Campaign Manager, in which he also appeared as Cubby’s assistant, Dyllun von Ritter. The MCC production of Really Really marks his New York playwriting debut. Cromer’s many directing credits include Tribes, Adding Machine: A Musical, The House of Blue Leaves, and When the Rain Stops Falling.
