Repertorio Espanol will present the world premiere of Caridad Svich’s adaptation of Isabel Allende’s best-selling novel The House of the Spirits, in Spanish with live English translation, February 13-June 5. The production will be directed by Jose Zayas.
The piece spans over 50 years as it charts the rise and fall of the Trueba family in an unnamed Latin American country. Svich’s plays include 12 Ophelias and The Booth Variations.
The cast will feature Denise Quinones, Nelson Landrieu, Beatriz Cordoba, Ernesto de Villa Bejani, Selenis Levya, Rosie Berrido, Gabriel Guitierez, Laura Gomez, Eric Robledo, Ana Veronica Munoz, and Kika Child.
The creative team includes Robert Federico (sets and lighting), Alex Koch (video), Emily DeCola (puppetry), and David Lawson (original music). Zayas’ credits include Letter to a Mother, Southern Promises, and Devil Land.
