Casting and creative team information has been announced for Yoni Ki Baat, a Rasaka Theatre Company production set to run at the Strawdog Theatre, January 2-February 1, 2009.
Produced in association with Premiere Theatre and Performance, Yoni Ki Baat is a monologue cycle with music and dance that explores what it means to be a South Asian woman in the United States, addressing the arc of the female experience from adolescence to motherhood, including explorations of sexuality, marriage and masturbation. Writers involved in the piece include Rasaka Theatre ensemble members Anita Chandwaney and Mary Anne Mohanraj, with guest writers Rajani Adhikary, Roksana Badruddoja, Devi Bhaduri, Kyven Dickens, Nisha Gurbuxani, Sheba Karim, Angeli Primlani, Sarita Sarvate, and Shruti S. Tewari.
The cast will feature Chandwaney, Minita Gandhi, Mouzam Makkar, and Fawzia Mirza. The creative team will include Joe Court (sound), Christine Ferriter (lights), Alka Nayyar (choreography), and Angeli Primlani (costumes).
