The production will kick off the 30th anniversary season of the Atlantic Acting School and Off-Broadway Atlantic Theater Company.
Atlantic for Kids has announced that its 2015-16 season will open on October 10 with the world premiere of The Velveteen Rabbit: A New Family Musical. Written by Cormac Bluestone and Anya Saffir and based on the beloved children’s book by Margery Williams Bianco, the production will play at Atlantic Theater Company‘s Linda Gross Theater.
The Velveteen Rabbit will feature an ensemble cast of young actors, many of whom are Atlantic Acting School alumni including Brooks Cline (Father/Toy Soldier), Jessika Doyel (The Velveteen Rabbit), Paul Eddy (Mechanical Toy/Wild Rabbit), Mickele Hogan (Mother/Toy Soldier/The Fairy of Nursery Magic), Daniel Brian Jones (Tug Boat/The Doctor), Sam Gonzalez (Wooden Lion/Wild Rabbit), McLean Peterson (Nana), Mina Walker (Porcelain Doll/Wild Rabbit) and Wesley Zurick (The Boy) and also featuring Anya Gibian (Mechanical Toy/Wild Rabbit), Hugh C. Smith (The Skin Horse), and Greg Sullivan (Toy Soldier/Wild Rabbit).
Bluestone is an alumnus of Atlantic Acting School. Saffir, who also attended the school, is currently on the faculty. Atlantic alumna Alison Beatty, who serves as the school's artistic director, is the choreographer for The Velveteen Rabbit.
The Atlantic Acting School and Off-Broadway Atlantic Theater Company are celebrating their 30th anniversary season.
