Lauren Pritchard and Michael Kimmel are the authors of this new version of Chekhov’s ”The Seagull”.
Full casting has been announced for the new musical Songbird, set to be presented from October 20-November 29 at 59E59 Theaters.
Written by Michael Kimmel (The Last Goodbye) and Lauren Pritchard (Spring Awakening), Songbird is inspired by Anton Chekhov's The Seagull and tells the story about a fading country star who returns home to Nashville to help the son she abandoned launch his own career.
As previously announced, Tony Award nominees Kate Baldwin (John & Jen) and Erin Dilly (A Christmas Story) lead the company, alongside Kacie Sheik (Hair), Andy Taylor (Once), Ephie Aardema (The Bridges of Madison County) and Adam Cochran (The Last Goodbye). Newly named for the production are Don Guillory (Stickfly), Drew McVety (The Last Ship), and Eric William Morris (Be More Chill).
JV Mercanti directs the production, which featured a creative team made up of Jason Sherwood (scenic design), Aaron Porter (lighting design), Mark Koss (costume design), and Justin Stasiw (sound design). Allison Bressi and Diana Buckhantz produce, by special association with Less Than Rent Theatre.
