Full casting has been announced for the North American tour of the new stage adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, which will kick off on December 1 at Playhouse Square Center in Cleveland.
This Wizard of Oz had its world premiere at the London Palladium Theatre in March 2011. After its West End run, the production had its North American premiere in Toronto in December 2012, and toured the U.S. from September 2013 through June 2014. Developed from the MGM screenplay, the production contains the beloved Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg songs from the movie score, plus new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The tour will star Sarah Lasko as Dorothy, Mark A. Harmon as Professor Marvel/The Wizard, Shani Hadjian as the Wicked Witch of the West, Aaron Fried as Lion, Jay McGill as Tin Man, Morgan Reynolds as Scarecrow, Rachel Womble as Glinda, Randy Charleville as Uncle Henry, and Emmanuelle Zeesman as Auntie Em. The ensemble will feature Victoria Abhalter, Danielle Behrens, Amy Button, Will Geoghegan, Beau Hutchings, Nick Morgan, Justin G. Nelson, Nick Picknally, Corey Rives, Dominick Sannelli, Jenna Brooke Scannelli, Maggie Spicer, Alex Swift, Jake Vacanti, Adam Vanek, Shannon Walsh, Kaley Were, Kyle White, and Dorsey Ziller.
The Wizard of Oz will have the same award-winning creative team from London and Toronto Jeremy Sams (direction), Robert Jones (set and costume design), Arlene Phillips (choreography), Hugh Vanstone (lighting design), Mick Potter (sound design), Jon Driscoll & Daniel Brodie (video/projection design), David Cullen (orchestrations), and Graham Hurman (musical supervision).
