Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater has announced casting for its upcoming production of Nina Simone: Four Women.
Directed by Timothy Douglas, Christina Ham's play reveals how Nina Simone helped define the sound of the civil rights movement, through the lens of her song "Four Women." It runs November 10-December 24.
Harriett D. Foy (Amélie) is set to take on the title role, alongside Felicia Curry as Sweet Thing, Theresa Cunningham as Aunt Sarah, Toni Martin as Sephronia, and Darius Smith as Sam Waymon.
The creative team for Nina Simone: Four Woman includes music director Darius Smith, choreographer Dane Figueroa Edidi, set designer Timothy Mackabee, costume designer Kara Harmon, lighting designer Michael Gilliam, sound designer Matthew M. Nielson, and wig designer Anne Nesmith.
