Jonathan Brielle’s musical will be directed by Michael Bush.
Full casting has been announced for the new off-Broadway musical Himself and Nora. Written by Jonathan Brielle, the show will begin previews on May 14 at the Minetta Lane Theatre, with opening night set for June 6. Michael Bush directs.
The company is headed by Matt Bogart (Jersey Boys) as James Joyce and Whitney Bashor (The Bridges of Madison County) as Nora. They are joined by Michael McCormick (Chaplin), Zachary Prince (Honeymoon in Vegas), Lianne Marie Dobbs (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn), Victoria Huston-Elem (The Addams Family), and Gary Troy.
The work, which features book and score by Brielle, explores the relationship between author James Joyce (Bogart) and Nora (Bashor), the country girl from Galway whose burning sexuality and acerbic wit inspired the genius.
The production has musical direction by James Sampliner, choreography by Kelli Barclay, set design by Paul Tate dePoo III, costume design by Amy Clark, lighting design by Jason Lyons, and sound design by Keith Caggiano. Casting is by Geoff Josselson.
