Looking to catch some theater during your summer vacation — or even making a vacation about going to the theater? Here’s a rundown on some of the shows you can catch in the Berkshires, Cape Cod, The Hamptons, and Upstate New York over the next three months.
THE BERKSHIRES
Barrington Stage Company is currently presenting the classic musical Guys and Dolls (June 15-July 16) featuring Michael Thomas Holmes as Nathan Detroit, Morgan James as Sarah Brown, Leslie Kritzer as Adelaide, and Matthew Risch as Sky Masterson. Another notable musical production from the company is The Game (August 11-28), based on the 18th-century scandalous novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses, starring Rachel York, Graham Rowat, Heather Ayers, Joy Franz and Christianne Tisdale. Additional BSC productions include Going to St. Ives (June 22-July 9), starring Gretchen Egolf and Myra Lucretia Taylor; the world premiere musical, Mormons, Mothers and Monsters (July 14-31); Mark St. Germain’s adaptation of Osha Gray Davidson’s The Best of Enemies (July 21-August 6); Hell Raisers – A Night of Songs by Joe Iconis (August 11-13); and My Name is Asher Lev (August 18-September 4), with Dan Cantor, Adam Green, and Renata Friedman.
At Williamstown Theater Festival, Jessica Hecht, Ana Reeder, and Sam Rockwell head the cast of David Cromer’s production of A Streetcar Named Desire (June 22-July 3). Maura Tierney and Steven Weber star in Jon Robin Baitz’s Three Hotels (June 29-July 24), directed by Robert Falls. Josh Hamilton, Oscar Isaac, Matthew Maher, Lily Rabe, and Lili Taylor star in A Doll’s House (July 20-31). Brooks Ashmanskas, Richard Easton, Kristine Nielsen, and Paxton Whitehead are among the cast members of She Stoops to Conquer (July 27-August 7), while Malcolm Gets, Donna McKechnie, and Lauren Molina are featured in John Doyle’s production of Ten Cents a Dance (August 11-28). Other WTF productions include Lewis Black’s comedy One Slight Hitch (July 6-17), with Mark Linn-Baker, Paige Howard, and Lizbeth MacKay; Beth Wohl’s Touch(ed) (August 3-14), with Michael Chernus, Lisa Joyce, and Merritt Wever; and The Civilians’ company-created piece, You Better Sit Down: Tales From My Parents’ Divorce (August 16-21).

Stephen R. Buntrock, Arnie Burton, Jen Cody, Johanna Day, Erin Dilly, and Damian Young comprise the ensemble cast of Berkshire Theatre Festival’s production of Kathleen Clark’s In The Mood (August 2-13). Additional BTF shows include Michael Weller’s Moonchildren (June 28-July 16); The Who’s Tommy (July 7-16), with James Barry, Randy Harrison, Jenny Powers, and Angela Robinson; A. R. Gurney’s Sylvia (July 12-30), with David Adkins; Greg Keller’s Dutch Masters (July 19-August 6), with Amari Cheatom, Christian Coulson, and Keira Naughton; David Auburn’s production of Tennessee Williams’ Period of Adjustment (August 16-September 3) with Mia Dillon; and James Ludwig in Chris Newbound’s Birthday Boy (August 30-October 16).
Among the productions at Shakespeare & Company’s various stages are Women of Will: The Complete Journey (Parts I-V) (May 27-July 10), with Tina Packer and Nigel Gore; As You Like It (June 24-September 4), featuring Merritt Janson as Rosalind; and Romeo and Juliet (July 8-September 3), with David Gelles and Susannah Millonzi in the title roles.
The schedule at TriArts Sharon Playhouse, in Sharon, CT, at the foot of the Berkshires, includes a reading of the new musicals When We Met (June 29), featuring Sally Wilfert and Michael Winther, and Loving Leo (August 10), with Winther and Farah Alvin; as well as Whiskey Songs: A Night with Joe Iconis and Family (July 30).
