Lin-Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail, and more will receive a special honor for ”Hamilton”.
Multi-Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and actress Gloria Estefan will host the 41st Annual Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday, December 2. The gala will be recorded by the CBS Television Network for broadcast on Wednesday, December 26. Estefan herself was a Kennedy Center Honors recipient in 2017.
This year's recipients will include singer and actress Cher, composer and pianist Philip Glass, country music entertainer Reba McEntire, and jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter. This year, the cocreators of Hamilton — writer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Thomas Kail, choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler, and music director Alex Lacamoire — will receive a unique Kennedy Center Honors.
The star-studded celebration will take place on the Kennedy Center Opera House stage, produced by Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss of White Cherry Entertainment, with Weiss returning as director.
