Godspell to Play Final Broadway Performance on June 24

The current Broadway revival of Godspell will play its final performance Circle in the Square Theatre on Sunday, June 24 after a run of 30 previews and 264 regular performances.


As previously reported, a national tour of the show will launch during the 2013-2014 theater season. Casting and a complete schedule will be announced at a later date.

Featuring music and new lyrics by composer Stephen Schwartz and original concept and direction by John-Michael Tebelak, Godspell revisits Biblical parables and the story of the Passion. The new production has been directed by Daniel Goldstein and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli.

The show features such hits as “Day by Day,” “Turn Back, O Man,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “Prepare Ye,” and “Light of the World.”

The show features Corbin Bleu as Jesus and Wallace Smith as Judas, and co-stars Uzo Aduba, Nick Blaemire, Hannah Elless, Celisse Henderson, Morgan James, Telly Leung, George Salazar, and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle.
