Goodman Theatre Production of Two Trains Running Set to Begin Performances

Two Trains Running, by August Wilson, begins performances tonight at the Goodman Theatre's Albert Theatre. Set in 1969 in Pittsburgh’s Hill District, the play revolves around a local diner run by a man named Memphis. People gather in the establishment to gossip about the neighborhood, discuss the future, and confront the difficult realities in their present lives. All the while, however, Memphis must contemplate if he wants to give the building up to the government or sell the diner to a ruthless business man.

Written by August Wilson and directed by Chuck Smith, the play features Terry Bellamy as Memphis, Chester Gregory as Sterling, Anthony Irons as Wolf, Nambi E. Kelley as Risa, Ernest Perry Jr. as Hambone, A.C. Smith as West, and Alfred Wilson as Holloway.

The creative team includes John Culbert (light design), Birgit Rattenborg Wise (costume design), Linda Buchanan (set design), Ray Nardelli (sound design), and Kathleen Petroziello (stage manager).

Performances will run through April 12.
