Three classics join a season of brand-new work.
Goodspeed Musicals has announced a six-show season for 2017.
Slated for the Goodspeed venue in East Haddam are musical theater favorites Thoroughly Modern Millie (April 21-July 2, 2017), Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! (July 14-September 28, 2017), and Rags (October 6-December 10, 2017).
Coming to the Terris Theatre in Chester will be three new musicals. First up will be Deathless (June 2-July 2, 2017), a musical comedy following the Serling family on their annual road trip to Niagara Falls. The production features a book, music, and lyrics by Zack Zadek.
Next will be Darling Grenadine (August 18-September 17, 2017). Set in Manhattan, the romantic comedy follows fun-loving jingle composer Harry whose charmed life "sparkles with the fizz of romantic comedies and the whimsy of MGM musicals" until reality interrupts his fantasies. Daniel Zaitchik pens the book, music, and lyrics.
The last production at the Terris Theatre will be A Connecticut Christmas Carol (November 17-December 24, 2017), a new adaptation of the Dickens holiday classic. The production features a book by L.J. Fecho, and music and lyrics by Michael O’Flaherty, Goodspeed’s resident music director for over 25 years.
