Emily Walter and Bryan Fenkart will lead the cast of the new musical.
Goodspeed Musicals has announced casting for Daniel Zaitchik’s new musical Darling Grenadine, directed by Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages). Performances will run from August 18-September 17 at the Terris Theatre.
With a book, music, and lyrics by Zaitchik, Darling Grenadine is described as follows: "Meet fun-loving jingle composer Harry. In modern Manhattan, his charmed life with girlfriend Louise, brother Paul, and beloved Labrador Retriever (also Paul) sparkles with the fizz of romantic comedies and the whimsy of MGM musicals. But will it all go flat when reality interrupts Harry’s tenderly orchestrated fantasia? A rich contemporary score explores the friction between romance and reality, bitter and sweet, high and low."
The cast will be led by Bryan Fenkart (Memphis) as Harry and Emily Walton (Peter and the Starcatcher) as Louise. The company will also feature Ben Mayne (Paul the human), puppeteer Phillip Huber (Paul the dog). Rounding out the ensemble will be Danyel Fulton, Nikko Kimzin, Leah Sprecher, and Kevin Zak.
The creative team includes choreography by Chase Brock, scenic and projection design by Edward T. Morris, costume design by Tilly Grimes, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Jay Hilton, music direction by David Gardos, and orchestrations by Matt Moisey.
