Hamilton star and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda received a Sardi's portrait on Tuesday, May 24.

In addition to being the Pulitzer Prize-winning creator and star of the Broadway hit Hamilton, Miranda won a Tony for his musical In the Heights. He also wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical version of Bring It On.

Hamilton, featuring book and score by Miranda and direction by Thomas Kail, began performances at the Rodgers on July 13, with opening night on August 6. Inspired Ron Chernow's biography Alexander Hamilton, the musical explores the life of the American Founding Father. It played an acclaimed, Drama Desk Award-winning run at the Public Theater in 2015. It is nominated for 16 Tony Awards.
