A play based on J.K. Rowling’s magical hero is now in the works.
Harry Potter has enchanted millions on the page and on-screen. Now he's being transported to the stage to work his magic some more. J.K. Rowling has announced that she will coproduce a play based on the wand-wielding Harry.
In a statement, Rowling said that the show will "explore the previously untold story of Harry's early years as an orphan and outcast" among the muggles, or magic-lacking humans. Although she will not be writing the script, she will work with the writer, who has yet to be selected, as well as producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender.
The producers plan to open the play within the next two years in London's West End.
