Historical Drama Camp David Sets Sights on Broadway

Lawrence Wright’s drama explores the Camp David Accords between President Jimmy Carter, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.

Camp David, a new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Lawrence Wright, is headed to Broadway, with an anticipated opening expected for the 2016-2017 season. The work premiered in 2014 at Arena Stage in Washington D.C.

Based on true events surrounding the 1978 Camp David Accords, the play follows the 13-day meeting between President Jimmy Carter, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat as they attempted to negotiate peace in the Middle East.

The company at Arena Stage was led by Ron Rifkin as Menachem Begin and Richard Thomas as Jimmy Carter. They were joined in Molly Smith's production by Hallie Foote as Rosalynn Carter and Khaled Nabawy as Anwar Sadat.

Prior to the expected Broadway run, the production will play San Diego's Old Globe Theatre May 13-June 19, 2016. Additional information will be released in the coming months.
