Casting has been announced for David Hyde Pierce’s new drama.
Manhattan Theatre Club has announced casting for the world premiere of Ripcord, a new comedy by David Lindsay-Abaire, at its New York City Center – Stage I space beginning September 29 and opening October 20.
Directed by Tony and Emmy winner David Hyde Pierce, the production will star the previously revealed Marylouise Burke, alongside Emmy winner Holland Taylor (Ann), Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live), and Glenn Fitzgerald (The Sixth Sense). Taylor replaces the originally announced Mary Louise Wilson (On the Twentieth Century), who has withdrawn from the show due to the extension of the book tour for her new memoir, My First Hundred Years in Show Business.
Taylor will play Abby, a cantankerous tenant at the Bristol Palace Assisted Living Facility, who is forced to share her quarters with the infuriatingly chipper Marilyn (Drama Desk winner Marylouise Burke), and turns their relationship into a dangerous game of one-upmanship.
The creative team for Ripcord includes Alexander Dodge (scenic design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Jennifer von Mayrhauser (costume design), John Gromada (original music and sound design), and Thomas Schall (fight director).
