Stage and screen star Hugh Jackman will appear in person to accept his special Tony Award at the 2012 Tony Awards ceremony, which will be held at the Beacon Theatre on Sunday, June 10 and broadcast live on CBS from 8pm to 11pm (ET/PT time delay).
As previously announced, Jackman’s special Tony is “for his contributions to the Broadway community, both as a performer and humanitarian; his tireless dedication to charitable works of many types; and his personal generosity of spirit.”
Jackman was seen earlier this season in Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway and won a Tony Award for The Boy From Oz. His other stage credits include A Steady Rain, Oklahoma!, and Sunset Boulevard. As previously announced, Jackman is slated to return to Broadway during the 2013-2014 season in the musical Houdini. He has numerous film credits and will next be seen on screen starring as Jean Valjean in the movie adaptation of the musical Les Miserables.
Neil Patrick Harris will host the ceremony, which as previously reported, will feature performances by 2012 Tony-nominated musicals and plays featuring such stars as Tracie Bennett, Christian Borle, Matthew Broderick, Danny Burstein, James Corden, Raúl Esparza, David Alan Grier, Jeremy Jordan, Norm Lewis, Ricky Martin, Audra McDonald, Kelli O’Hara, Josh Young, and more.
As previously reported, presenters will include Ellen Barkin, Candice Bergen, Jessica Chastain, Sheryl Crow, Nick Jonas, Angela Lansbury, James Marsden, Trey Parker, Jim Parsons, Mandy Patinkin, Tyler Perry, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Plummer, Paul Rudd, Amanda Seyfried, and Matt Stone, and Ben Vereen.
