“…before Halloween, isn’t that crazy?!” said Menzel on her official Facebook page.
Idina Menzel, Broadway's Tony-winning star of Wicked, Rent, and If/Then, has officially announced that she will release a new solo album titled Holiday Wishes. The festive recording will be released in just over a month, on October 14: "before Halloween, isn't that crazy?!" said Menzel on her official Facebook page.
The Warner Bros. Records album is produced by Grammy winner Walter Afanasieff. The song list will include wintry favorites, such as "A Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," as well as Joni Mitchell's "River."
In a possible nod to Menzel's recent success playing Elsa in Disney's animated film Frozen, the Holiday Wishes cover art features Menzel looking cool in a sparkling, long-sleeved gown reminiscent of Elsa's iconic blue dress. In addition to her role in Frozen, Menzel's career has included a Tony-winning performance originating the character of Elphaba in Wicked, a Tony nomination for originating Maureen in Rent, and most recently, her Tony-nominated performance in Broadway's If/Then.
