In Transit, the Drama Desk Award-nominated 2010 musical coauthored by Frozen author Kristen Anderson-Lopez, will make its Broadway debut this fall, running at the Circle in the Square Theatre following the closure of Fun Home. Exact dates are still to be announced.
Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, the a cappella musical is inspired by the rhythms of the subway as various characters find their way in New York City. It features a book, music, and lyrics by Anderson-Lopez, James-Allen Ford, Russell Kaplan, and Sara Wordsworth. The production will have vocal arrangements by Deke Sharon and musical supervision by Rick Hip-Flores. Full casting for the Broadway production will be announced in the coming months.
The musical was first presented in 2010 by Primary Stages, with Joe Calarco directing. It received 2011 Lucille Lortel Award, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk Award nominations. A 2015 reading of the show was directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli.
In Transit is produced by Janet B. Rosen for Six Train Productions. Scott Landis serves as executive producer.
