Singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and Harold Arlen Award-winning composer-lyricist, pianist, and music supervisor Georgia Stitt will make special appearances with the New York Pops for Women of Notes: In Dedication to Female Composers and Lyricists. The concert will be held on November 17 at Carnegie Hall.
Michaelson and Stitt join previously announced special guests Sara Bareilles and Fred Ebb Award-winning composer-lyricist Shaina Taub. Adam Kantor (The Band's Visit) and Betsy Wolfe (Waitress) will also perform in tribute to renowned female composers and lyricists, including Carole King, Tracy Chapman, Dolly Parton, Betty Comden, Mary Rodgers, Jeanine Tesori, and others. The performance will be led by music director Steven Reineke.
Michaelson recently made her Broadway debut as Sonya in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Her solo albums include Slow the Rain, Girls and Boys, Be OK, Everybody, Human Again, Lights Out, and her most recent, It Doesn't Have to Make Sense.
Stitt is currently developing several original musicals, including Snow Child (commissioned by Arena Stage), Samantha Spade, Ace Detective (commissioned by TADA Youth Theater), Big Red Sun, The Danger Year, Blue Ridge Sky (written with Hunter Foster), The Water, and Mosaic (commissioned for Inner Voices Off-Broadway in 2010).
